Katie has been a partner at Wilkin Chapman since April 2013 after joining the firm in 2004 and qualifying in 2006. She works in our employment team with over 12 years' experience.
Katie offers practical and commercial advice over a wide range of services. She is a people's person with excellent client care and is able to adapt to her client needs; she also takes the time to understand her clients and their requirements. Her client portfolio covers sole traders, partnerships, small businesses and plcs, advising on all aspects of employment issues including acting as a support to HR.
Providing employment and HR advice to employers and employees, Katie gives advice ranging from: day-to-day HR advice- such as holiday pay issues, grievances and disciplinaries - to more technical advice on redundancy and TUPE issues. Katie also deals with tribunal claims and handles the claim from the start to finish, including representing the parties at tribunal if necessary.
Katie specialises in the educational sector and acts for a variety of schools and academies. She is able to use the knowledge she has gained as a governor to understand the issues that educational establishments face and the ever-changing academic environment. She also has an extensive agricultural client base and regularly advises on agricultural issues involving tied accommodation and agricultural tenancies.
Graduating with a Law Degree from Newcastle, Katie received her LLB degree.
Katie takes an active role in her community and as well as being a school governor has been involved in numerous community projects. She is an experienced speaker and regularly hosts seminars and provides training for her clients on an array of HR and employment issues.
