About Jaye

Jaye Addison is a solicitor in the medical negligence team based in our Grimsby office.

She graduated from Nottingham Trent University in 2016, before completing her Legal Practice Course and qualifying as a solicitor in 2022. Prior to qualifying, she spent time working as a legal officer and a paralegal.

Jaye now acts on behalf of patients and their families who have been injured through negligent medical treatment. She can assist with a wide range of clinical-related matters including orthopaedic injuries, fatality claims, surgical errors, cancer claims, eye claims, and failure to prevent suicide.

Key specialisms

Surgery negligence

Surgery negligence happens when a surgeon or medical professional provides substandard care – either before, during, or after the operation. Jaye works closely with patients and families to secure compensation from the NHS, private hospitals, and clinics.

To successfully bring a claim you will need to prove that your surgeon or medical professional did not meet the correct standards of care and caused an otherwise avoidable injury. Her diligent approach motivates her to gather evidence, consult with independent experts, and ultimately process the claim through court, helping clients to understand what went wrong.

Birth injuries

Birth injuries can be life-changing and often very traumatic for mothers, babies, and all loved ones involved. Jaye offers her services to both mothers and babies who have been affected by medical negligence before, during, and after delivery.

Her work sees her obtaining independent medical evidence to advise on the standard of care, whether it was negligent, and if so, exactly what the negligence caused. If appropriate, she also obtains evidence to assess future prognosis, including short and long-term needs.

Jaye’s hands-on approach helps her clients to feel safe and secure throughout the claims process. Where complications could have been avoided, she endeavours to give clients the support and compensation they need to live an independent life.

Brain injuries

Jaye has worked on a number of brain injury claims, from traumatic brain injuries to congenital brain damage.

These claims are often complicated, as she must analyse numerous forms of expert evidence to establish what has happened, whether the treatment was of a reasonable standard, and, if not, whether it caused an otherwise avoidable injury.

She offers clients unwavering support and guidance throughout the claims process. Where possible, she helps her clients access rehabilitation and resources to benefit their recovery.

Memberships and voluntary work

In her own time, Jaye volunteers at PAPYRUS, a UK-based charity dedicated to the prevention of suicide in young people.
