Why we’re celebrating National Conveyancing Week

Wilkin Chapman is proud to be supporting National Conveyancing Week, which takes place on the 20th-24th March.

The summer of 2020 saw the start of the property market boom as buyers and sellers came out in force to find their dream homes. This was fuelled by stamp duty holidays, flexible working, lifestyle changes, and a want for more outdoor space having spent several months in lockdown. This resulted in an unprecedented demand for the services of property professionals across the sector.

Organisers of National Conveyancing Week confirm the extraordinary amount of work conveyancers face, having researched the effect of the property market:

“The property market is the backbone of the UK economy. A healthy property market will generate approximately £50 billion of economic activity each year as home movers pay for the direct home moving costs (such as banks, mortgage brokers, estate agents, and property lawyers). Alongside this, there is an estimated £25,000 spent per home move on soft furnishings, technology and connectivity, and white goods.”

Conveyancers take on much more than helping local communities find their dream home. Aside from providing advice on the technicalities of buying and selling property, conveyancers can also help with claiming ownership, voluntary registration of land, re-mortgaging property, and more.

Caroline Fletcher-Shaw, a partner in our conveyancing team, said:

“Whilst we are firm supporters of our domestic property team every day, it is fantastic to have that special recognition during National Conveyancing Week which can be shared with fellow residential property professionals across the country. It is also a great way to educate others about what we do, raise our profile, and encourage new solicitors into this demanding yet rewarding area of law.”

Our conveyancing property advice team has an excellent reputation for its service. We are also a member of the Law Society's Conveyancing Quality Scheme (CQS), which provides a recognised quality standard for residential conveyancing practices.

We are proud to have helped communities all over our region and beyond for more than 100 years. It is quite possible that we have dealt with property matters for your parents, grandparents, and even great-grandparents.

When sharing her thoughts on why National Conveyancing Week is so important to conveyancers across the country, Caroline put it best: “This is such a great opportunity to simply say ‘we celebrate you and all your achievements!’.”

If you need help with an issue relating to your residential property, get in touch with our conveyancing team. Our friendly conveyancers are more than happy to help.
