Two of North East Lincolnshire’s best-known organisations have united to provide a stack of goods to a vital Grimsby food bank, which has fallen victim to two raids in three months.
Dee Bee Wholesale, part of The Ramsden Group and Wilkin Chapman solicitors were determined to help when they heard how the Rock Foundation facility had been broken into again earlier this month – just a few weeks after an initial break-in. Food, clothing, children’s toys and presents were taken with extensive damage done to the interior, at the former Holme Hill School, in Wellington Street.
Together the two firms donated cereals, tinned produce, rice, pasta, long-life milk, tea, coffee and baked beans to help restock the shelves.
“This is wonderful. This second raid was devastating. Our food bank now serves up to 100 people every time we open, all of them in need and so these goods, along with the other offers of help we have received, have given us a massive boost,” said Rock Foundation founder, Pam Hodge.
Operations director at Dee Bee Wholesale Paddy O’Connor, Wilkin Chapman senior marketing manager Kay Hudson and senior Paralegal and team leader in the firm’s Commercial Recoveries team Jenna Emsley-Fairbass, delivered the goods to Pam at Rock’s day centre on Heneage Road – around the corner from the food bank – and were given a tour of the facilities.
“We were happy to help in any way we could. As a business that has always recognised the importance of community, Dee Bee was keen to support Rock and will continue to identify ways in which it can help,” said Paddy.
Kay added: “The community of North East Lincolnshire is a close one and when something like this happens, it is always heart-warming to see how local organisations respond and we were happy to do so.”
