Retirement dinner is enjoyed by Partners, who gather to say goodbye to Martyn and David

Colleagues, past and present, came together to mark a double retirement, as Wilkin Chapman said farewell to partners David Buckle and Martyn Chilvers.

David and Martyn enjoyed a celebration evening dinner at Kenwick Golf Club, where familiar faces included former Chief Executive Julia Whittaker and former senior partner Philip Day, who are both now retired after long-term service with the firm.

David’s illustrious career with Wilkin Chapman has spanned more than 35 years, during which he successively led the firm’s litigation and employment departments.

Passionate about the area and its people, David is also the Honorary Icelandic Consul for Grimsby - endeavouring to support the local Icelandic community.

Meanwhile, Martyn retires after more than 13 years with the firm. When he joined Wilkin Chapman in 2004 he brought with him a wealth of property expertise and successfully handled transactions from the sale, purchase and leasing of commercial property to industrial developments and planning agreements.

Mark Carlton, the outgoing senior partner of the firm thanked both David and Martyn for the important roles they have played in the firm’s continued success.

“Both Martyn and David are fundamentally kind and thoughtful of others and have always done a tremendous job for the firm and for their respective departments. This evening is a celebration of careers well run and a chance to show genuine appreciation to valued and trusted colleagues.

“On behalf of the Partners’ and the firm generally, I wish both a very long and happy retirement, in the knowledge that they will always be regarded as Partners in this firm and always welcome,” said Mark.
