Three successive Clerks to the Enrolled Freemen of Grimsby joined members of the charity’s committee for its annual dinner, which took place at Upstairs at Abby’s, Grimsby.
The dinner coincided with the departure of Paul Tollerton, and the appointment of the new Clerk. Chairman, Stephen White, former Clerk, Stephen Savage, and newly appointed Clerk, Jonathan Goolden, joined with the Freemen to say goodbye to Paul.
Solicitor Paul is also stepping down as a partner with local law firm Wilkin Chapman solicitors to take up a legal role with a Christian charity in Leicestershire. Paul’s role at the Enrolled Freemen is being filled by Jonathan Goolden who, along with his team, will now support the Freemen alongside Treasurer, Peter Fearn, an accountant and partner with Forrester Boyd.
The link between Wilkin Chapman and the Freemen goes right back to 1835, when William Grange of predecessor firm Grange Wintringham was Clerk to the charity. Stephen Savage, retired partner from Wilkin Chapman, also acted as Clerk until his retirement.
