Beverley solicitors raise £8,000 for local charities

The Beverley office of Wilkin Chapman solicitors has raised more than £8,000 for local charities, after embarking on a number of fundraising challenges to mark its tenth anniversary.

Last year, staff at the Lairgate office announced they would undertake a year of fundraising, marking a decade since the office amalgamated with another local solicitors’ firm, Cooper & Wright. The team pledged support to three locally-based charities, Beverley Community Lift, Beverley Consolidated Charity and Kickstart Teenage & Young Adult Cancer Support.

Through various events and activities including a 50 mile sponsored walk from the firm’s Grimsby office to the Beverley office and a branch to branch bike ride taking in the firm’s nine offices, covering over 115 miles, the office raised an impressive total of £8,222.50, which has been split between the three charities. Donations were also made to Dove House Hospice and national charities Bloodwise and Henshaws Society for Blind People.

Last month, Wilkin Chapman invited guests from the charities to attend a special ‘James Bond dinner’ held by Beverley Community Lift, where each organisation was presented with a cheque.

Lesley Archer, a partner at Wilkin Chapman in Beverley who helped lead the fundraising efforts, said: “We’ve established links with a number of charities and we decided we wanted to make a significant contribution to them all as we celebrated our tenth anniversary.

“Our team has had a lot of fun throughout the fundraising process and it was fantastic to round off a special year by getting together with each of the charities at the dinner. We’ve had great feedback from each of them and we’re looking forward to hearing more about how our donations will be used.”
