Wilkin Chapman recognised as top tier law firm

Wilkin Chapman solicitors, have again been recognised as a top-tier firm, by strengthening its standing in the 2015 edition of Legal 500 - a leading legal directory which is the industry ‘bible’ on the legal services sector.

The solicitors’ practice has received a general recommendation in the East Midlands publication, where it is recognised as a regional heavyweight continuing ‘to represent clients across the board’ and having ‘notable agricultural and military expertise.’

This year the firm has been ranked in 12 specific legal areas; its agriculture team has moved up a tier and is now acknowledged as a top-tier practice area, which is ‘highly regarded.’ It has also maintained its profile for its family, recoveries and commercial property teams, which are also recognised as being ‘top tier’ practice areas.

The firm’s nationally recognised recoveries department is ranked for the first time in the category of insolvency and corporate recovery, and it has also maintained rankings in the following practice areas: corporate and commercial, crime and regulatory, employment, personal injury/clinical negligence, agriculture and wills and probate. The firm has also achieved three listings in the Yorkshire and Humber regional publication for its debt recovery, insolvency & corporate recovery, and wills, trusts and probate expertise.

In addition to departmental praise, 23 of the firm’s partners and solicitors have also been singled out for praise for the individual contributions they make to their areas of expertise. Partner and head of commercial property, Ruth Brewin, is recognised as being ‘meticulous, hardworking and quick to respond.’ A number of partners are also ‘recommended’ including: Martyn Chilvers (commercial property), Matthew Dix (insolvency and corporate recovery), David Buckle (employment), Mark Robinson (personal injury) and Jane Eatock (employment).

Senior solicitor and specialist military lawyer, Alex Rynn, is ‘recommended for his court-martial expertise’ and Lisa-Jane Howes, partner and head of the firm’s wills, estates, taxes and trusts department, is noted as being ‘very professional, thorough and prompt.’

The directory’s East Midlands region stretches from Lincolnshire to Northamptonshire, whilst the Yorkshire and the Humber region includes Hull, Sheffield, Leeds, York and Bradford. Both regions bring together law firms which serve widely different client bases.

Commenting on the 2015 results, Des Mannion, chief executive of Wilkin Chapman, said: “Achieving high rankings in the Legal 500 is no mean feat and a fantastic achievement, especially as all the rankings are based on extensive and independent client research and feedback – a real testament to the knowledge and expertise of our partners and staff.

It is especially gratifying to be the only Lincolnshire firm recognised as a ‘regional heavyweight’, reflecting the breadth of offering and strength of our performance as a law firm for businesses and individuals.”
