Sutton on Sea Solicitors raise over £1,500 for charity

Local solicitors, Wilkin Chapman Grange, have helped prove that ‘where there’s a will, there’s a way to help charity.’ The Sutton on Sea office took part in Will Aid and, thanks to the generous donations from clients, have helped raise over £1,500.

Will Aid is the UK's leading charity will-writing scheme. It provides people with the opportunity to make or update their Will in return for a donation to help people in need in the UK and all over the world. This money is shared by nine well-known UK charities: ActionAid, Age UK, British Red Cross, Christian Aid, NSPCC, Save the Children, Sightsavers, SCIAF (Scotland) and Trocaire (Northern Ireland).

As part of the scheme, Wilkin Chapman Grange drew up basic wills for local people without charging the usual fee. In return for this service, clients made a donation of their choosing to Will Aid.

The firm had a very busy and successful campaign and wrote a large number of wills for local people, giving their families the security of a properly drafted will, as well as the opportunity to support popular charities.

Commenting on the scheme’s success, Richard Houltby, partner, said: “We really enjoyed meeting many new local clients and would like to thank everyone who took part and for donating so generously.

“We are particularly proud to have been involved in Will Aid’s 25th Anniversary campaign and to have been able to contribute such a healthy sum. The money our clients donated will be added to the nationwide total, which currently stands at over £1.5 million and which is expected to exceed £2 million once all the donations are received. The money will be put to good work to make a real and lasting difference to vulnerable children, families and older people in the UK and around the world.”

This year’s scheme will run at participating offices during November and will provide the opportunity for many more people in need of a will to come forward and sort out their affairs and, at the same time, help support nine of the UK’s best-loved charities.
