Alford solicitors launch free family law clinic

With relationships under increasing pressure, local solicitors, Wilkin Chapman Grange, are launching a free family law drop-in clinic on Thursday 6 February 2014. The clinic will take place at the firm’s Alford offices between 2pm to 4pm and consist of 20 minute slots for free legal advice.

Branch partner, Rupert Houltby, explains: “Unfortunately, we are seeing increasing numbers of couples’ relationships being put under pressure due to the current economic climate. Divorce can sometimes seem like the only option but there are many more ways to resolve relationship difficulties and the aim of our free family law clinics is to help couples identify the best route for them.”

The economic cost of relationship breakdown is estimated at around £46billion per year*, and this figure does not take into account the uncertainty and heart ache that it can cause to those directly affected. There are many different approaches to resolving relationship difficulties, including those which affect children and finances, and not all require a court process.

The family law clinics will be led by Lisa Boileau, the firm’s head of the family department. Lisa is a qualified solicitor with over 20 years’ experience dealing with all areas of family law and relationship breakdown. She is also a qualified and Law Society Accredited Mediator and one of the UK’s first legal experts to qualify as a Family Law Arbitrator.

The Alford family law clinics will take place on the first Thursday of every month between 2pm to 4pm. Although appointments are not necessary, it is advisable to ring 01507 466767 to reserve a 20 minute advice slot.
