The report covers various aspects of life, including employment. And the statistics reveal the scale of the problems facing many in society, including:
- Black, Asian and ethnic minority workers who have degrees are two and a half times more likely to be unemployed than White workers with degrees.
- Black workers with degrees earn 23% less on average than White workers with degrees.
- Black people who leave school with A-levels typically get paid 14.3% less than their White peers.
- Since 2010, there has been a 49% increase in the number of young people from ethnic minority communities who are long-term unemployed. Compare that with a fall of 2% in young White people.
The Chair of the EHRC has called for a coordinated and comprehensive new race strategy from the Government.
