About Tom

Tom Martin is a senior associate in the employment team based in our Lincoln office.

Tom advises both employers and employees on all aspects of employment law, offering practical commercial advice designed to achieve the clients’ desired outcomes.

Tom often advises on day-to-daySen problems such as disciplinary and grievance issues, employment contracts, policies and procedures, performance and sickness absence management, and Settlement Agreements. Tom also advises on more technical issues such as redundancy and restructuring procedures, IR35 compliance, Data Protection matters, restrictive covenants and TUPE transactions, as well as handling Employment Tribunal claims involving issues such as unfair dismissal, discrimination and whistleblowing.

Tom has a keen interest in advising on matters of employment law in the education sector, whilst also specialising in advising military personnel on armed forces/military employment law. This includes providing advice and assistance on service complaints, disciplinary/administrative action and early release applications.

Tom regularly delivers internal and external seminars on a broad range of employment topics, as well as bespoke training for businesses.

Tom graduated from the University of Nottingham in 2013 with a 2:1 degree in Law and completed his Legal Practice Certificate, with a distinction, from Nottingham Law School in 2014. Tom qualified as a solicitor in September 2017, having completed his two-year training contract with the firm, and has worked exclusively for the employment team since.
