About Joshua

Joshua Wick is a solicitor in the dispute resolution team based in our Beverley office.

He was awarded a first class honours LLB law degree from De Montfort University in 2018. He then obtained a distinction for the Legal Practice Course in 2020, before going on to complete his training contract in 2022.

Josh previously worked as a litigation executive, which gave him valuable litigation experience working primarily for large, international insurer clients as well as smaller-scale insurer clients. This role allowed him to gain a good understanding of the commercial implications of litigation for clients of all shapes and sizes.

He joined the firm in 2023, where his work covers a wide range of issues. He primarily focuses on commercial disputes, showcasing his aptitude for matters relating to contract, intellectual property, regulatory, and consumer rights law. He regularly works on cases relating to the sales of goods and services, as well as contract and intellectual property disputes. He also advises on debt litigation and property disputes.

Consumer law

Josh frequently engages in negotiation, mediation, and litigation for disputes arising out of contracts between businesses and consumers, applying the Consumer Rights Act 2015 to ensure that his clients are able to exercise their rights. Conversely, Josh is also able to advise businesses which are faced with potential consumer rights claims.

He finds that disputes regarding contracts for the sale or purchase of goods and services are most common. Specifically, he regularly advises clients on cases regarding whether goods and services were of satisfactory quality or whether they were fit for purpose.

Intellectual property

He covers disputes for all intellectual property rights, including copyright, trademarks, patents, confidential information, and more. He regularly deals with matters relating to the rightful owner of intellectual property, in addition to claims where the nature and extent of a licence is in dispute.

He displays excellent knowledge and understanding of intellectual property rights, allowing him to provide high quality advice to his clients. Josh has extensive experience working with intellectual property issues and has a practical understanding of the procedural requirements that may impact such disputes.

Commercial contracts

Experienced in dealing with large claims for breach of contract resulting in claims for damages, Josh is commercially minded and always mindful of what is best for the business objectives of his commercial clients.

He regularly demonstrates an aptitude for commercial contract disputes, with his commercial approach and keen eye for detail. He acts for business of all sizes, from sole traders to large companies, and across a variety of sectors.

He is also able to deal with commercial debt litigation, recovering money owed for outstanding invoices.

Regulatory and advertising law

Joshua is able to deal with breaches of advertising law and public regulations, such as cases involving food safety or environmental regulations, as well as public procurement of property.

His work in this area can involve international disputes, such as dealing with advertisements on online selling platforms that breach UK laws and regulations. Josh has a particular interest and aptitude for cross-border disputes involving breaches of UK and foreign regulations.

Voluntary work and memberships

Josh previously volunteered within an in-house legal advice centre, from which he was able to assist local members of the community with a wide range of legal issues. His work included matters relating to personal disputes and general advice regarding contracts, tenancies, and debts.
