ACAS advice on performance management systems

ACAS has published new guidance on performance management.

It sets out what performance management is and why it is good for both the business and its employees. It sets out the benefits of good performance management systems. These include having motivated staff, getting the best out of employees, delivering projects effectively, and weeding out poor performance.

The guidance contains links to other sections dealing with certain aspects of performance management in more detail. A section on 'How to get performance management right' provides guidance on how to identify business aims and develop a process that helps achieve those aims. It also contains helpful sections on how to measure staff performance (including objective setting and assessment) and maintaining an effective performance management process (by regular monitoring and review).

Some ACAS guides can seem low on practical content. This one is not. It is genuinely helpful, especially to small employers and start-ups who may not yet have formal systems in place. Read the advice at:
