Oliver qualified as a solicitor in 2009 and has specialised solely in employment law since qualifying. He joined our Lincoln employment team in 2013, became a senior solicitor in April 2015 and was made a Partner in November 2018.

Oliver predominantly advises employers across a wide range of sectors throughout the UK but also has extensive experience of advising individuals with workplace issues, including senior executives and directors. His aim is to provide effective and practical commercial advice to ensure that the clients’ aims are achieved and a lasting relationship is developed.

He advises employers and employees on all aspects of employment law, including day to day problems such as disciplinary and grievance issues; varying terms and conditions of employment; individual and collective redundancy procedures; TUPE issues; reorganisations; performance management; sickness absence; contractual disputes and settlement agreements.

Oliver has a particular interest in advising businesses on the employment law aspects of mergers and acquisitions and provides support to the corporate and commercial and agricultural departments in any transactions. He also advises a number of academies and education providers throughout Lincolnshire.

Oliver regularly represents clients in the Employment Tribunal, delivers bespoke training to businesses and presents internal and external seminars on a broad range of employment topics.

Recent examples of work include:

  • Advising an multi-national employer on a reorganisation and redundancy process with no Tribunal claims being issued or pursued.
  • Successfully representing an employer at a tribunal hearing defending claims for unfair dismissal and whistleblowing.
  • Successfully representing an employee in claims for unfair dismissal, discrimination arising from disability and failure to make reasonable adjustments.
  • Negotiating a six figure settlement for a Director with claims for unfair dismissal, sex discrimination and harassment.
