Alex graduated from the University of Hull with a 2:1 LLB Law and completed her Legal Practice Certificate, gaining a distinction, at the College of Law, York. Alex joined Wilkin Chapman in 2011, working as a paralegal in the recoveries department before she qualified as a solicitor in 2015 and was promoted to a senior solicitor in June 2019.
Alex primarily represents our local authority client’s advising on a broad range of contested litigation matters in respect of many different debts. Alex has a wealth of experience in dealing with defended insolvency proceedings and contested applications to annul together with contested order for sale proceedings.
Alex has identified growing demand from clients requiring solutions to more specific complex areas and as such has now built a large proportion of her practice around the following niche areas:
- Pre-enforcement advice for example on liability for rates, to include representation at contested application and applications to challenge;
- dealing with issues around deceased estates; and
- tackling issues around Adult Social Care debt, particularly where assets have been dissipated prior to the provision of care.
Alex is able to support clients in all manner of debt and insolvency matters. She also assists with the management of our Local Authority team, holding daily ‘query sessions’ with the team members, in order to ensure adequate supervision and the on-going development of staff knowledge.
She has undertaken a variety of advocacy work in the County Court concerning insolvency, charging order and order for sale litigation.
