About Jane

Jane Eatock is a partner leading the employment team based at our Grimsby office.

She has been a specialist employment lawyer for over 30 years. Working for a wide range of employer clients across the public and private sectors, Jane is valued for her commercial focus and ability to solve complex employment issues through practical solutions.

Jane has particular expertise in handling the employment aspects of major restructuring and retendering projects, TUPE transfers and redundancy exercises for plcs and large corporates – particularly in the oil and chemical industries - together with health trusts and local authorities. She works with directors, in house counsel and senior management teams guiding them through the strategic process. Much of Jane’s time is spent working with her key clients in planning for change by removing or recruiting senior level employees, developing bespoke remuneration and termination packages at director level, enforcing or defending restrictive covenants and dealing with the complexities of team moves.

On a day to day basis Jane works closely with her clients’ senior leadership teams handling major internal employment issues including high level grievance and disciplinary issues, whistleblowing investigations, complex disability claims, equal pay disputes, union action and a range of discrimination complaints. Her public sector experience has given her an in-depth knowledge of safeguarding issues involving employees in educational and healthcare settings and Jane works closely with our regulatory team in handling the necessary referrals to professional bodies and managing the reputational issues alongside the disciplinary process. She advises trustees, governors and directors across the public and third sectors.

Jane is also a highly-regarded advocate at employment tribunal.

A regular speaker on employment issues at regional and national conferences Jane enjoys delivering innovative training to clients and sector groups on topics such as TUPE, effective performance management, handling sickness and mental health issues and conducting workplace investigations.

Jane holds a part time judicial appointment as Assistant Coroner for Grimsby and North Lincolnshire since 2008.

Jane received her LLB in Law from Manchester University in 1987, graduating from her Law Society Final Examination from Nottingham Trent University in 1988. She qualified as a solicitor in 1991 where she worked for a Colchester law firm for 9 years, five of them being Partner. Jane joined Grange Wintringham in 2000 as a Partner and the firm merged with Wilkin Chapman in 2010.
