what our trainees think
Training contract: 2014 Due to qualify: 2016 Works in: Lincoln
"Wilkin Chapman seemed to offer the most diverse training contract"
I was planning to move back home to Lincolnshire after I finished University. I researched local firms and found that Wilkin Chapman seemed to offer the most diverse training contract, offering a wide range of departments to work in. I also noted that a large number of partners within the firm had either trained at Wilkin Chapman or worked in the firm from an early stage of their career. This demonstrated that Wilkin Chapman was a firm where people stay and that helped people to progress their career within the firm itself.
what is it like to work at Wilkin Chapman?
Wilkin Chapman is a great firm to work for. I have already been offered the chance to work for a variety of departments to gain an insight into different legal fields, which I think is really important during your training. This allows you to learn different skills from different solicitors and helps you to work out what it is that you really have a passion for and will ultimately want to do for the rest of your career.
For example, I have primarily worked for the personal injury and agriculture departments, however, I have also had the opportunity to attend court hearings for the crime department, take part in Joint Settlement Hearings with the litigation department and have been involved with residential property transactions.
Everyone within the firm has been very welcoming and friendly from day one of my training contract and the atmosphere within the firm is great to work in. There are regular social events within offices as well as for the whole firm, which gives everyone a chance to get to know people across the whole firm.
