Wilkin Chapman’s spectacular Evolve event catapults law firm onto a national awards shortlist.

EVOLVE, Wilkin Chapman solicitors’ Lincoln event, which brought an awe-inspiring display of human flight to the city, has been shortlisted for a prestigious international award.

A finalist in the Finance and Professional Services Event of the Year in the C&IT Awards, the leading Lincolnshire and East Yorkshire law firm is in auspicious company with events organised for Prudential Corporation Asia, Visa and XERO joining them on the shortlist. Last year’s winner was the MCM Creative Group, which organised the Risk Summit 2018 on behalf of Thomson Reuters.

These annual awards are a highlight on the calendar for C&IT (Conference & Incentive Travel), which is the UK’s leading brand for the MICE (meetings, incentives, conferencing & exhibitions) sector. The ceremony will be held at London’s Hilton, Park Lane on Friday, September 20.

In submitting its entry, Wilkin Chapman solicitors highlighted how the innovate and dynamic event was staged at the Brayford Pool in Lincoln to celebrate the firm taking on additional space at its Lincoln office as part of the firm’s ongoing expansion. Group turn-over is now in excess of £27 million with Partners and staff totalling 500 across its seven offices. In bringing Richard Browning and Gravity Industries, the world’s first ‘human fliers’ to the city, the Evolve event attracted national recognition and 4,000 people.

The crowd watched Richard and a colleague use powered jet suits to take-off from the side of the river and fly down a stretch of water to the head of the pool. The event also featured local displays and entertainment, a VIP reception with Richard, and harnessed regional press, TV and radio attention – supported by an extensive in-house digital and print campaign.

Delighted by the outcome of the event, the Wilkin Chapman marketing team, led by the Head of Marketing and Business Development Nick Greenwood, saw record levels of engagement across the website and social media channels with additional coverage on local radio and both Calendar and Look North.

Russell Eke, Partner and Joint Head of Business Services for the firm, said: “There is no doubt that Evolve surpassed all expectations. We wanted a show-stopper event to really highlight the way Wilkin Chapman is indeed ‘evolving’ as a law firm that is prepared to be innovative in its approach while investing in its people, its buildings and its communities.

“We were all delighted with the result, which proved to be entertaining and informative for both our clients and the wider general public. To be nominated for this award is the icing on the cake,” added Russell.
