Wilkin Chapman completes another substantial corporate sale

Wilkin Chapman Solicitors have completed another substantial corporate sale, advising on the sale of Retail Merchant Services (RMS). RMS is the UK’s award-winning payments services company, which has been acquired by TCV (advised by Wiel Gotshal & Manges LLP), a leading provider of capital to growth-stage private and public enterprises in the technology industry and the acquisition comes from TCV’s $2.5 billion growth fund.

The deal was handled by Ian Sherburn, partner and corporate law specialist at Wilkin Chapman, supported by his team in Grimsby. This transaction demonstrates the skill and expertise that sits within the corporate and commercial team based at the firm’s flagship Cartergate offices in Grimsby. After having spent time at two City law firms, Ian returned to his family roots in 2000, bringing his corporate law expertise to the firm.

The stamina and determination of the team to deliver an exceptional result for the client saw extremely long hours worked over many months. Commenting on the sale, Ian Sherburn said “My team have worked exceptionally hard over the last few months on this transaction. The support from Adam Aisthorpe, Adam Ottley and Tom Rook has been fundamental in achieving an excellent result for our client”.

Wilkin Chapman have long been a regional powerhouse in corporate and commercial legal advice for their clients and this transaction cements their standing as one of the leaders in their field. There are not many law firms outside the city that have the resource or expertise to advise on such transactions.

Ian Sherburn added, “I am exceptionally proud of my team and the result that we have achieved for our client.”
